Sustainable living is the practice of making mindful choices in the way we eat, build, work, and care for each other—so that communities thrive in harmony with nature, today and for generations to come

Projects and Initiatives

We translate ideas of sustainability into action through a range of projects and initiatives. Each program is designed to address real community needs while showcasing practical, scalable solutions for a regenerative future. From sustainable farming and livelihood to education, and wellness, our initiatives bring people together to learn, innovate, and co-create resilient communities. These efforts not only demonstrate the possibilities of sustainable living but also inspire collective action for a brighter tomorrow.

Vrikshayurveda-Based Sustainable Farming

Reviving Soil, Restoring Plant Health, Producing "Shreshta" Food

Background & Rationale

Agriculture in Idukki, particularly in cardamom plantations, is facing an unprecedented ecological and economic crisis due to over-reliance on chemical fertilisers and pesticides.

• Soil degradation

• Food toxicity

• Economic burden

• Environmental threat

There is an urgent need to shift towards sustainable, regenerative farming systems that protect soil, ensure farmer livelihoods, and safeguard public health.

Vrikshayurveda — the ancient Indian science of plant life and sustainable agriculture — offers time-tested, eco-friendly, and economically viable farming practices. Rooted in traditional knowledge yet adaptable to modern contexts, it presents a viable pathway for transitioning away from chemical dependency.

Project Goal

To promote sustainable farming practices in Idukki district — with a special focus on cardamom cultivation — through the introduction, adaptation, and scaling of Vrikshayurveda-based farming methods, leading to improved soil health, reduced chemical usage, lower input costs, and enhanced community well-being.

Expected Outcomes
  • Reduction in chemical inputs in participating farms by at least 50% in the first 2 years.

  • Lower farm input costs by 30–40%, improving farmer profitability.

  • Improved soil health and biodiversity in farmlands.

  • Safe, chemical-free produce for local and downstream communities.

  • Empowered farmer leaders capable of training others.

  • Community-driven farming ecosystem that sustains itself beyond the project period.
